This monument is located at the entryway of the then newly-built Yawkey Sports Training Center – the headquarters of Special Olympics Massachusetts – in Marlborough, Massachusetts. The central figure is the coach striding forward and holding the Special Olympics torch. The flame itself has a gold leaf finish and an internal, flickering LED light. To his sides are the young athletes looking towards their coach and the torch. The sculpture symbolically represents the efforts, participation, and accomplishments of all the Special Olympics athletes.
